GREEN TEAS:
This is the only conventionally produced green tea that we have. However another Green tea may be found at the Specialist teas section and also a large O.P. 1 Spl production green tea under the Organic section.
Elpitiya: Won the silver award in 1999 at the
Great Taste Awards in London.
This is a traditional Gunpowder type. It has a very light liquor with a fresh zip to the flavour. Made in the traditional shot type Pekoe style. This form of leaf is formed with the roller action and a certain temperature level in the roller. The estate is community owned land.
Brewing: We recommend a temperature of approximately 90 o C (194 F). Use freshly drawn water and heat the water up to the temperature. we do not recommend boiling and then standing the water.
Cut the amount of leaf usually used for black tea and brew for only 2 - 3 minutes.
ICED TEA: Brew at double strength and pour into a glass or glasses filled with ice.
