Kandy District

An
estate situated by the road when traveling through the Ginagathena pass on the
Gampola to Nawalapitiya road and situated on a high knoll of ground. The estate
is visited by both the South West and the North East monsoons. Production is
approximately 900,000 Kilos of Traditional (Orthodox) made tea annually.
The area is close to several towns and therefore the workers are both Sinhalese
and Tamil.

ESTATE COMMUNITY SUPPORT
The estate has become involved in supporting a vocational training center for
the disabled near by. The estate provides free transport to and from home and
purchases a number of items for the disabled such as writing materials.

4 Executives, 41 staff level and 917 workers are employed.

It has particular level of body to it's tea which appears to have been
popular in the U.K. It has the usual Kandy deeper red liquor as against the
Dimbula rosy redness.

FOIL
PACKS:
The
picture opposite shows a selection of single estate special seasonal manufacture
teas packed into their district colour. The large packs at the rear are 1 Kilo
(2.2 Lbs) foil packs.
Liquor: A well twisted leaf appearance. A deep bright red in colour with some depth of body to the brew and a special character of it's own for this area. It takes milk well where required.
Brewing: Brew 3 - 5 minutes. Mild 2.5 to 3.5 minutes - Strong brew 5 minutes+
