Loose
leaf capacity and care of the caddy:
This is a special item that has only recently been developed by us and we shall only have it made to order. The bowl has a variable capacity according to the type of leaf ordered. For a smaller grade approximately 250 g capacity and large grade leaf may only pack with 150 to 200 g. It is Iodised which means that the craftsman has coated the original Brass or Copper metal with a darker coating and then rubbed back the highlights to the Brass or copper layer. Then finally he has coated the caddy with a coating which preserves the polish. Do not use metal polish on the caddy but merely buff it with a soft polishing cloth when needed.
Design on the caddy:
The motif on the caddy is of the Hamsa Puttowa (Sacred entwined swans), together with the vine of life. The significance of the Hamsa Puttuwa, which is our logo on our packs, is that when a bride marries in the Kandy region she wears 7 necklaces and on one is the Hamsa Puttuwa as a sign of purity, wholesomeness and goodness. It is therefore used with respect for it's sacredness in Buddhist tradition and only where items are presented as examples of great pride and craftsmanship. the vine of life comes from the entrance to buildings of great importance in the old cities of Annaradpura and Polonnaruwa where a moonstone is used at the first step into a building and this relates the cycles of life on earth entwined with the vine of life.
Packaging:
The bowl comes with a standard red cardboard box. It can also be offered with the special box shown in the photograph which would be gold printed on the lid with the Hamasa Puttowa. This option can be advised by entering in the line provided for a message below the address to despatch to. I will then confirm a price. At present this box is £14.69 inclusive of U.K. VAT tax.
